riddick illustrates for thrash metal gods, slayer!

I was recently commissioned to illustrate a T-shirt for thrash metal legends, SLAYER!  I immediately pulled out my 1983 copy of “Show No Mercy” on vinyl and borrowed inspiration from its classic cover artwork. I’ve included the sketch and final illustration below. I’m hoping this illustration will have some appeal to the older SLAYER fans who still worship their early recordings.

New Trivium artwork

Here is a new sketch/illustration I completed for Roadrunner Records recording artist, TRIVIUM. This band has gained a  lot of momentum in the metal community since their inception in 2000. I believe this design will be sold on shirts for their Mayhem Festival Tour this summer with MARILYN MANSON, SLAYER, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, etc.

SLAUGHTER LP Cover

I was commissioned by Agipunk Records to redraw the infamous skeleton icon from the legendary 80s Canadian punk/thrash band, SLAUGHTER for a vinyl repress of their legendary “Bloody Karnage” demo and “Nocturnal Hell” EP. The LP is scheduled for release in early 2010!

Skateboard Deck on Display in the Middle East

I recently hand-drew a skateboard deck for an art exhibit in Tel Aviv, Israel. The exhibit, titled “All-A-Board,” featured several talented artists who created their own designs from scratch by using skateboard decks as their canvas. The curator has informed me that the show’s opening was a success. I’ve included a photo from the exhibit below; my illustrated deck in on the left.

Rydickart…what the?

I happenned upon this while surfing the Internet. Someone has reappropriated my ‘Self-Mutilating Goat Worship’ T-Shirt illustration and rebranded it as ‘Rydickart.’ I find this very amusing and thought I would share.
